Guy Invents Shoes That Will Grow 5 Sizes In 5 Years
There are over 300 million children around the world who do not own a pair of shoes. And to top it off, many more than that have shoes that are either too big or way too small for them. That is where inventor Kenton Lee decided to do something for the underprivileged children. He created a shoe that grows with the child. They are sandals that can adjust to their size, allowing underprivileged children to grow up never having to be without footwear. It breaks my heart to know that so many children walk around barefoot, but Kenton is determined to make a change in the world. The motto of his organization is, “We Believe In Practical Compassion”.
The Shoe That Grows started when Founder and Executive Director Kenton Lee was living and working in Nairobi, Kenya in 2007. On his way to church, he noticed a little girl in a white dress next to him who had shoes that were way too small for her feet. That led to many questions with Kenton asking why.
And shortly after, The Shoe That Grows was born.
Over 2 billion people suffer from soil-transmitted diseases and parasites. They live in areas that do not have adequate sanitation. Kenton was determined to change this. He created this simple sandal that can grow 5 sizes and should last a child over 5 years.
With this innovative shoe, a child can have the opportunity to have shoes for at least 5 years and worry more on being happy and having the ability to play without having to worry as much about the safety of their feet.
